"Avoid this barbershop! I've been here a couple times because I really wanted to give them a chance. The first time I thought my experience was a fluke so I tried them again, but I never will again. Let me explain.\n\nTheir name is Psychobilly and they have loads of music memorabilia on the walls, so I thought they'd have some tunes on when I went there. Nope - they don't play music. They always have a TV on and it's usually something mildly, or extremely, offensive. The first time it was comedy, so I didn't care too much. Some offensiveness ought to be permitted in comedy, because it's comedy. It wasn't too funny, but I kind of rolled my eyes at it while I got my hair cut. It definitely would've been more enjoyable if they were playing music. The other thing that bothered me was my barber making some vague christian proselytizing comments to me. This offended me, but it just made me decide to schedule with a different barber the next time.\n\nMy second visit, however, was an excruciating experience. The TV was playing an alt-right televised podcast where the interviewer talked with a police officer who got in trouble for doing drugs (prescription painkillers among other things) on the job. The cop was remorseless and basically doubled down on how he shouldn't have gotten in so much trouble; "his white privilege should have been enough to let him skate by", etc. It was demented and mind-warping and made the whole vibe in the place feel awful. To make matters worse my barber had my chair facing away from the mirror towards the TV so HE COULD WATCH TV INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON CUTTING HAIR! When he finally turned me around to face the mirror I could tell he had been on autopilot the whole time and hadn't given me the cut I asked for. When I re-explained what I wanted (a mohawk - not a faux-hawk, not shaved sides - a mohawk) he got huffy and aggressive with me and turned me back towards the TV as if to punish me while he finished cutting my hair. I'm not exaggerating when I say aggressive - the feeling in the place was that they were cheering on this disgraced cop who at different times would complain about "wokeness" and talked with glowing praise about the January 6th insurrection. They laughed at his mean-spirited jokes and resoundingly agreed with his alt-right sentiments. It was bizarre and scary. I definitely felt like I couldn't ask them to change the program or turn music on instead. All the barbers had their clients turned towards the TV. They don't wash hair at Psychobilly, but it sure seems like they're trying to wash some brains! When my barber, angry at having our appointment go longer than he wanted it to, turned me back around to face the mirror again I noticed that my mohawk was way off-center. Surely a product of him not caring about what he was doing and instead paying attention to the morons talking on TV. At that point I wanted to get out of there quick so I just paid and left. I still tipped 20% because that's how I do, but I definitely regretted it as soon as I was in my car. \n\nStay away from this place if you want a barber who pays attention to cutting your hair. And especially if you want to avoid bad vibes & alt-right podcasts while you do something as innocuous as get your hair cut!"
