"Half Price Books is a retail-store chain that has stores in many states and buys and sells new and used books, DVDs, records, CDs, puzzles, and more. This particular store is in the Village Square Mall. \n\nFor many years, I purchased books through the business's website. Most recently, my husband and I shopped in this physical store. My husband felt interested in looking at books about software and gaming. He saw some books that he liked. However, he saw one book that he already owns and that he said was not worth the $75 price tag. Otherwise, I felt interested in the books about photography, film, pets, and the social sciences. \n\nThis store has many other sections of books, including home repair, interior design, gardening, fashion, architecture, cooking, history, science, travel, language, crime, children's, etcetera. Some books are collectibles such as first editions and signed copies. This store also sells calendars, greeting cards, board games, and more.\n\nI will give a neutral rating for this physical store, because the business's website has a significantly larger selection of merchandise that is available for shipping."

"Great books, disappointing values."\nI really wanted to love this place ... the prices and selection are wonderful. But recently, a young man from my church who has autism was excited to start working here. He only got to work two days before they quietly stopped putting him on the schedule. When he called to ask about his next shift, they suddenly decided he "wasn't a good fit."\nThat's not how inclusive workplaces behave. For a business that prides itself on community, ghosting a disabled employee instead of offering guidance or support is both unprofessional and heartless. Inclusion isn't about slogans -- it's about how you treat people when no one's watching. This place is not for neurodivergent people , and I will never support them again, Treat people like you want to be treated."

"I cannot imagine a greater waste of space in this day and age than the Barnes and Noble store at Settler's Ridge. The store has undergone a stark change since I last visited, before Covid. They no longer sell DVD's which was pretty much the main reason for my visit. When I asked about this the clerk could do no better than to tell me that this store is not a Barnes and Noble Media store. When I asked which local stores were Media stores she could not tell me "off the top of her head." How many stores do they have for Pete's sake? In any case, this store had tons of "junk" left over from Christmas and large open spaces. The shelves were not full and the used little blocks on the shelves to take up space (and apparently to make the shelves seem fuller. The quality of releases that we are subjected to by the nation's publishers is obviously deteriorating rapidly and there are quite a few relatively recent publications being sold there for 50% off as well as the usual top ten in various categories for 20 to 30% off, but most choices were selling at 100% of the publisher's asking price (unless you are a B & N club member) and those prices just aren't competitive. It is heartbreaking to me that this store survived and Border's fell by the wayside. What did Border's do wrong I wonder as I notice this store doing nothing right. BTW, my two stars is in no way intended to equate with the sentiment next to it, "could've been better." My feeling is that they still have the coffee shop, reading areas and tons of books but they could be at least 100% better."
