UPDATE: A 65-year-old man died after his vehicle collided with a freight train Monday night in Birmingham. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as David Eugene Hester of Midfield. The collision happened at 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Pearson Avenue SW and 15th Street SW. Birmingham Fire and Rescue rushed Hester to UAB Hospital where he passed away at 9:53 p.m. Birmingham police are handling this investigation. | Fred Davenport
